Abstract
Innovation drives economic development, and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle prioritizes technological innovation. Patent transfer data reliably reflects technological progress and innovation indices, accurately characterizing urban innovation links. This paper studies the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle using patent transfer data from 2001 to 2020. Employing Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Quadratic Assignment Procedure (QAP) analysis, it explores the spatio-temporal evolution of patent transactions and the factors influencing technology spillover. Results indicate an upward trend in patent transactions, increasing network density, and strengthening clustering coefficients. Node centrality is rising, shifting from a “single-core” to a “multi-level and multi-node” model. Proximity in geography, technology, and institutions significantly promotes patent technology transfer, while economic level, city size, and investment incentives are found not to be primary influencing factors.
